Marena graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. Her research experience includes proteomics at the UCSF Mass Spectrometry Facility; functional genomics for rare disease research at BioMarin; and AI as a staff bioinformatician in the Doudna Lab. She is currently applying her expertise in high-throughput screening to target discovery and therapeutic development for neurodegenerative diseases, alongside her work engineering new editing tools and delivery modalities.
